CONFESSION !

CONFESSION : Work is condensed spirituality, the harbinger of peace, happiness and contentment ! Today ( 26. 08. 2017. ) I was sitting in my own private clinic at 15, Raja Basanta Roy Road, Kolkata26, from 7 to 9 in the evening and going through what I had written about my father. When I was getting out of my chamber at 9 PM, it suddenly dawned upon me that I was actually reading GITA in the form of my father's biography and I told this to my poor receptionist who smiled and nodded her head in agreement ! On the way back home I met my friends and patients, Mr. Ashish Chatterjee who is a renowned chattered accountant along with his wife, and they too supported my sudden realisation. ! When I returned home I told this fact to my son Rudra. Today happens to be exactly 8 years since my beloved wife Madhurima passed away on 27.08.2009. and I remember she once told me that I would die 8 years after her death ! Now I realise she was perhaps referring to a metaphorical death in the form of emptiness or being vacant of any further wish or expectations of any form, the mystery of KARMAYOG being suddenly unveiled to my eyes ! Today is a new inspired dawn for me owing to my father who has set the example of an ideal Karmayogi by only leading the life that he led and not in so many words and not by telling me in sombre words of knowledge ! Now I have understood there is no greater GOD or TRUTH than WORK and I was infact discussing this very point with Mrinmoy Da our renowned general and plastic surgeon at EEDF HOSPITAL, while assisting him in a surgical operation today morning ! Dr. Mrinmoy Nandy also happens to be my father's student and recalls many interesting anecdotes involving him and also takes enough pride while narrating those stories ! Friends, do you remember the photo frame hung on the wall in the office of Utpal Dutta the renowned actor, in the movie film GOLMAL with ,"WORK IS GOD", written on it through the eyes of the actor, Amal Palekar ? I have known the meaning of Karmayog before today but I have only known without trying to find a broader meaning to it and also without any enlightenment of wisdom ! I only had knowledge. But today my attitude towards work has radically changed for the better, being more Intense, Diviner and Spiritual ! My personality has changed overnight accordingly. মনে হচ্ছে আজকে আমি সিদ্ধিলাভ করলাম। Feeling like achieving NIRVANA ! GOD ?, BLESS MY FATHER !!! As far as I am concerned today ( 26.08. 2017. ) is my final rude awakening in an empty VOID !!! However I can assure you my friends that the hopes and dreams of the golden eye the seer of visions are still very much alive ! Is this the SELF ACTUALISATION of Abraham Maslow ( American psychologist ) when we feel one with the universe in our moments of ecstasy only after a spirited realisation of the meaning of true Action without expectations ? We must respect our work as we respect ourselves ! To sit idle when it is needed to act upon, without challenging the TRUTH, IS THE GREATEST SIN of all, AN ACT OF BLASPHEMY AND COWARDICE !!! Today I have released the Kartick"s knot that I had tied about one and a half months ago in my handkerchief !!! For what, getting back my own SELF ? TODAY ( 26.08.2017 ) I FEEL ENLIVENED !!! I reckon I always loved my father even before I came into this world as his son !!! Today I can say in an unhindered voice I have conquered Evil and won the battle against SELF too !!! Conquering the EVIL : LORD OF THE RINGS ; The ring bearer has defeated Saoron by demolishing his ring in the infernal fire of the mount Doom in Mordor today ! Is the ring bearer devoid of any qualities now ( নির্গুণ ) ? --------- I don't think so ! The cup will ever remain half empty ! Everyone has a Ring Bearer and a Saoron inside, and you must choose between the two ! I can assure you brother it's a hell of a job to remain unbiased !!! Today, my heart is burning in the sacred guarded flame of the messages of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore's songs," Walk Alone " ( একলা চলো রে --- ) and " Purity by fire " ( আগুনের পরশমনি )। In conclusion, Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali poem, Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, aptly defines my father as a Man of Action without expectations and as a revered HUMAN BEING too !!! ---- Dr. Bibhash Chakravorty.
